May 26, 2011

Day 1 Results

EUGENE, Ore. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Emily Blok ran a quarterfinal qualifying time of 11.73 in today's 100m dash at the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championship Competition. Blok was the only Rebel student-athlete that participated Thursday to advance, as Kelsey Williamson and Deja Edwards came up short in the 800m and long jump, respectively, at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Blok ran the fourth-fastest time in her heat and was one of six individuals to advance with help from her speed. The 100m dash was comprised of six heats with the top three from each automatically advancing to the quarters, while the remaining six fastest times moved on, as well.

Williamson and Edwards finished 40th in their respective events. Williamson ran an 800m time of 2:11.31, while Edwards jumped a distance of 18-2.5.

Four Rebels will participate in three events Friday. Amanda Bingson, Chelsea Cassulo and Danielle Rios compete at 10:00 am in the hammer throw, while Blok runs in the 100m quarters (4:20 pm) and the 200m prelims (5:50 pm).
