LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Despite dropping its final two matches of the postseason, the UNLV women's tennis team moved up one spot to 38th in the nation in this week's final Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings.
The Lady Rebels (20-6), who reached the 20-win mark for a third consecutive season for the first time in program history, won the Mountain West regular-season championship with a perfect 8-0 mark. They eventually lost in the semifinals of the league's tournament and then again in the first round of what was their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships.
UNLV also finished ranked first in its ITA region for the second straight year.
Individually, MW Freshman of the Year Lucia Batta (25-11) finished ranked second in the Mountain Region.
Fellow rookie and All-MWC honoree Aleksandra Josifoska (20-12) finished ranked fourth regionally; sophomore Nives Pavlovic (19-14) was 12th; and senior Anna Maskaljun (28-5) rounded out the rankings at No. 15.
In doubles, the all-league tandem of Batta and Maskaljun (23-3) closed at second in the region; All-MWC picks Pavlovic and Josifoska (18-11) were fifth; and the senior duo of Jana Albers and Adrienn Hidvegi (18-120 finished at No. 10.
