Southern Utah Head Coach Ed Lamb
On the win and what it means...
"I'm surprised we were able to push the final score that big. We had a down team at halftime and knew we left opportunities on the field. Our offense played uncharacteristically poor in the first half. It was a testament to our guys' character and their work ethic that they were able to come back out in the second half and I think they won the game physically."
On the game changing on Herring's interception to start the second half...
"I can only imagine being in UNLV's shoes and they felt that this was a must win game and to come out after a 10-10 halftime, I'm sure they were wanting to establish it [offense] early. Blake's [Fenn] interception was huge and he has done that for us before in other games."
On the defense and turnovers...
"I have to give credit to our defensive line and I think our secondary did a good job of taking away the first option for UNLV in the passing game. The d-line cleaned it up from there. We put great pressure on Herring."
On halftime adjustments...
"Our offensive line felt like they could block them physically and I wanted to come out and establish the run. Also, Brad [Sorensen] was able to establish himself in the second half. We had some dropped passes in the first half that got us out of sync and put us in long yardage situations. That was all corrected in the second half, plus the run game got going."
On Brad Sorensen's excitement to start the game...
"No question about it. He is usually one of the most accurate quarterbacks I've ever been around. He was uncharacteristically inaccurate in the first half."
On Sorensen settling down...
"After we started making some catches and making some throws and running the ball, no question. Our defense was rested and I knew we'd play well."
On the meaning of the win for SUU football...
"We are 3-1 and have out most important football game of the season coming up against North Dakota."
