LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Three UNLV tennis players are still alive in the singles draw after Friday's third day of action at the 2012 USTA/ITA Division I Women's Mountain Regional Championships, which are being held this week at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Lucia Batta, ranked 43rd and seeded first here, advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating Utah State's Hillary Hays 6-3, 6-0 and then Boise State's Sammie Watson 6-1, 6-0. She is joined by teammate Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 89th and seeded second, took care of Wyoming's Christa Gecheva 6-2, 6-1 before making quick work of Utah State's Jaci West 6-1, 6-0.

One other Lady Rebel that is still alive is Nives Pavlovic, who defeated Colorado State's Mollie Cooper 6-1, 6-2 prior notching a win over Montana's Ashley Mackey 6-0, 6-3.

More than 120 women's collegiate tennis players are competing this week at UNLV as part of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these middle two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions from the regionals will advance to the 2012 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 8-11, at the indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
