LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Two of UNLV's singles entries are through to the Round of 16 and one of its doubles teams is also still alive in the main draw after Thursday's second day of action at the 2013 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Regional Championships, which are being held this week at the Darling Tennis Center.

Second-seeded and 76th-ranked Ace Matias breezed past Critobal Ramos of Idaho, 6-2, 6-1, to advance while senior Tamas Batyi, downed Jordan Gobatie of NAU, 6-4, 6-1.

UNLV also picked up three wins in the consolation draw: Willie Sublette downed Grant Taylor of Air Force, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3; Gilad Berman defeated Fernando Sunago of Nevada, Reno, 7-5, 7-6; and Denys Pume fought back to down Todd Fought of Weber State, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

In doubles, the fourth-seeded duo of Matias and Pume downed Sterling Galli and Jacob Sullivan of BYU, 8-4, to move into the third round. In consolation action, Batyi and Sublette rallied past Dillon Launius and Ali Rizvi of Air Force, 8-7.

This is one of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these middle two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the 2013 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 7-10, at the indoor facilities at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, N.Y.
