LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV has a doubles team alive in the main draw after Friday's third day of action at the 2013 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Regional Championships, which are being held this week at the Darling Tennis Center.

Fourth-seeded Ace Matias and Denys Pume advanced by downing Matt Sweet and Andrew Whiting of Utah State, 8-7. The Rebel duo will face Cameron Lee and Cedric Willems of Utah in Saturday's quarterfinals.

Things did not go as well in singles play, however, as both Matias and Tamas Batyi were ousted in the quarterfinals. In the consolation draw, Pume emerged through two rounds on Friday while in consolation doubles, Willie Sublette and Batyi won a pair of matches to remain alive.

This is one of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these middle two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the 2013 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 7-10, at the indoor facilities at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, N.Y.
