LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team will continue its fall season by hosting Cal State Fullerton for a two-game series on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20.
The exhibition games are scheduled to be nine innings, but extra innings could be added on either day so that more players can see playing time.
"This is the second year we are playing Fullerton in the fall and it is another great opportunity for our squad," fourth-year head coach Tim Chambers said. "It will be a big test for our guys and the games will show our coaches what we need to work on before the season officially starts in the spring."
UNLV is coming off of its best season since 2004 as the Rebels finished 37-20 and second in the Mountain West with an 18-12 conference record. The Rebels return three of their top-five hitters from 2013 in Patrick Armstrong (.373), T.J. White (.341) and Joey Armstrong (.324). On the mound, Friday night starter Erick Fedde returns for his junior season after posting a 7-3 record with a 3.92 ERA in 2013.
The Titans return 19 players from last year's 2013 Super Regional squad, including the team's starting weekend rotation and 89 percent of the squad's innings from last season's 51-10 and Big West championship effort.
The games are slated for a 12:00 p.m. start on Saturday and a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday.
Admission is free of charge this weekend at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
