LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 57th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team opened its home schedule with a 7-0 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday in the first of two matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels, who had been off since January 28, improved to 1-2 on the season.

UNLV got on the board first by winning the two completed doubles matches for one team point. Aleksandra Josifoska and Janine Erasmus downed Ginet Pinero and Annemiek Witte 8-3 at the second spot while Iren Kotseva and Anett Ferenczi-Bako defeated Ros-Polly Nguyen and Lisa Roslanova, 8-5, on court three.

The host lost only one set in singles play. Josifoska, ranked 20th in the nation, defeated Jodie Williams 6-1, 6-3 at the top spot; Lucia Batta downed Denise Van Der Ben, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2; Nives Pavlovic breezed by Pinero, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3; Erasmus needed a super-tiebreaker to get by Annemieke Witte, 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 4; Kotseva beat Nguyen, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5; and Ferenczi-Bako won against Roslanova, 6-1, 6-2, on court six.
