LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV will have two doubles teams playing in the consolation rounds after a second full day of action Saturday at the 12th annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships being played at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The duo of Lucia Batta and Santa Shumilina downed Tessa Lyons and Laura Slater of North Carolina, 6-3, to advance to the consolation semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Lady Rebels Alexis Garrett and Anett Ferenczi-Bako also advanced when their opponents defaulted.
Doubles is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, followed by singles. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
The impressive field boasts 12 of the nation's top-50 ranked individuals in singles and two of the sport's top-three ranked doubles teams.
