COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV track & field's Monay Meggs played a hand individually and as a member of a relay team Saturday in two event titles at the 2014 Mountain West Indoor Championships. Overall, the Rebels finished eighth with 46 points at the league meet contested at the Cadet Field House on the grounds of the United States Air Force Academy.

Meggs helped the Scarlet & Gray claim titles in the 400m and the 4x400m relay, while finishing fourth in the 200m. She ran the 400m in a personal-best time of 54.89 and the 200m in 24.45. She partnered with Mandy Chitwood, Alva Castillo and Auzsane Crowe-Carter to claim the relay crown in 3:45.88 by slightly more than a second (1.01) over Fresno State's foursome.

In all, Meggs became the Rebels' third individual champion in the indoor 400, as she joins Kelsey Williamson who won in 2013 and Michele Davis and her three straight wins from 2000-02.

Dating back to 2000, UNLV has won the 4x400m relay three other times: 2001, 2002 and 2012.

The Rebels picked up a good amount of points in the 800m with Crowe-Carter leading the way with a third-place finish (2:11.78). Chitwood placed sixth (2:16.29), while Laura Affeld was eighth overall (2:21.50).

Three other Rebels finished highly Saturday with Erin Morris fifth in the 60m hurdles (8.54), Alva Castillo seventh in the 400m (57.65) and Adrianna Oliva eighth in the shot put with a personal-best toss of 46-7.25 (14.20m) - fourth best in UNLV's indoor performance list.

The New Mexico Lobos won the conference indoor championship with 148.50 points. Wyoming finished second with 84 and was followed by San Diego State in third with 75.

By virtue of their higher finish, UNLV earns the three points in indoor track & field in the 2013-14 Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and sponsored by Barrick Gold. With the haul, the Rebels have upped their lead to six points, 12.0 to 6.0.

With the conclusion of the MW indoor meet, the Scarlet & Gray will transition to its outdoor season and open up with its own UNLV Classic next week, March 7-8, at Myron Partridge Stadium & Sheila Tarr-Smith Field.
