Final Stats
San José, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (12-4, 6-1 Mountain West) put on a hit parade and beat the San José State Spartans 18-2 on Friday night.
As a team, the Rebels out hit the Spartans 20 to eight and committed two errors to SJSU's three. It was UNLV's first 20-hit game of the season.
The Spartans got on the board first when they scored a run in the bottom of the second inning after UNLV committed an error.
The Rebels countered by scoring five runs in the top of the third inning, four of which came when T.J. White hit a grand slam.
UNLV would go on to score nine unanswered runs before SJSU's Matt Carroll hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Rebels capped off the night with a ninth inning grand slam by Dylan Ellis.
Junior Erick Fedde (3-1, 1.59 ERA) picked up another quality start as he allowed one run, which was not earned, on seven hits and struck out five in 7.0 innings of work. Matt Thomas and Andrew Encinas each pitched one inning of relief in the game.
White led the Rebels from the plate and finished 3-for-5 with five RBI and three runs scored. Patrick Armstrong also recorded three hits in the game and finished 3-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored. Joey Armstrong (2-for-5), Morgan Stotts (2-for-4), Erik VanMeetren (2-for-5) and Edgar Montes (2-for-3) each finished with multiple hits.
