LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV all-time leading rusher Tim Cornett signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, the team officially announced late Monday.
Cornett, who became the first player to lead the Rebels in rushing four consecutive seasons, finished his collegiate career with 3,733 yards, which ranked second in Mountain West Conference history. His 38 total touchdowns and 35 rushing touchdowns both ranked second at the school, as did his 16 career 100-yard rushing games. As a senior, the Texas native earned second team All-MW honors after rushing for a career-high 1,284 yards and 15 touchdowns in helping UNLV reach a bowl game for the first time since 2000. He also caught a career-high 28 passes for 143 yards.
Cornett is attempting to become the second active running back in the league from UNLV as Frank "The Tank" Summers is a member of the Buffalo Bills as a fullback.
