Las Vegas, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (32-21/19-10 MW) put on an offensive show tallying 18 hits in a 17-9 victory over Nevada, Reno (28-24/15-14 MW) on Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

The win, coupled with New Mexico's 3-1 loss to Air Force, puts the Rebels in a tie with the Lobos atop of the Mountain West standings.

With the series against the Wolf Pack locked up, the Rebels also clinched the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy with a 27.0-18.0 score with only the outdoor track score to be posted.

UNR jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first, but UNLV responded in a big way, plating eight runs on seven hits building a five-run lead. The Rebels tacked on two runs in the fourth inning and added four in the sixth. UNLV capped off the offensive fireworks with three runs in the eighth.

Every Rebel position player reached base safely via hit or walk at least once. Patrick Armstrong went 2-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored and belted a two-run home run in the fourth inning, his seventh homer of the year. A.J. Hernandez continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Hernandez is hitting .625 against the Wolf Pack and has driven in seven runs.

T.J. White led the Rebels on Friday and finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored an RBI, while Justin Jones and Erik VanMeetren also had three RBI apiece.

Bryan Bonnell earned his sixth win of the season (6-5) after allowing six runs on 10 hits in 5.2 innings of work. Brayden Torres pitched well in relief, allowing just one hit in two innings of work with three strikeouts.

The Rebels and Wolf Pack will conclude their three-game set Saturday at 1:05 p.m. PT. Kenny Oakley (3-6, 3.22 ERA) is slated to be on the hill for UNLV, while Jason Deitrich (2-1, 3.15 ERA) is expected to pitch for Nevada, Reno.
