Sept. 21, 2014 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The host Rebels closed out their fall-season-opening tournament Sunday with the final round of the annual UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Paola Artiga, who was playing for the Flight Two singles title, fell to Julie Gerard of Long Beach State 6-0, 4-6, 6-5. Mercedes Lopez also dropped her final in Flight Three to a LBSU player, 5-6, 6-0, 6-4 to Karolina Rozenberg. Alexis Garrett, playing in Flight Three, did win the consolation bracket with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 comeback over Sara Brown of NAU.
Joining the Rebels this year were competitors from Long Beach State, Northern Arizona and South Alabama.
UNLV will next be in action on Oct. 15 when a contingent competes at the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional in Albuquerque, N.M.
