LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Host UNLV saw two of its three singles players win their opening match Friday as part of the Rebel Tennis Women's Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

In Flight Three, Paola Artiga downed Lucia Badillos of Idaho, 6-2, 6-3, while Reka Szentes got by Claire Young of Idaho, 6-0, 7-6. In doubles play, Artiga and Aiewn Zhu teamed up for an 8-7 victory over Rita Bermudez and Belen Barcenilla of Idaho in the top flight. UNLV also has another doubles team alive after they enjoyed a bye in Flight Two.

Joining the Rebels in the powerhouse lineup are competitors from top national programs such as USC, Baylor, TCU, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M as well as ITA Mountain Region rival Idaho.

Featuring four flights of singles and two flights of doubles, all matches are free and open to the public. Doubles semifinals starts the action Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., followed by singles play. The finals are set for Sunday.
