LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (3-2) plated a run in each of the first four innings to pick up a 6-2 victory over Pacific (0-5) on Friday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
Junior second baseman
Justin Jones led the way, going 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. Senior right fielder
Edgar Montes finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while
Morgan Stotts and
Nick Rodriguez each tallied a RBI.
The Rebels got their first run of the game when Stotts brought home
Payton Squier on an infield single. UNLV plated another run in the second inning when Montes scored on a Rodriguez sacrifice bunt.
Squier scored his second run of the game in the third inning on a Jones sacrifice fly to centerfield to bring the score to 3-0. The Rebels tacked on another run in the fourth when Montes crossed the plate on a Tigers error.
Pacific cut into UNLV's lead in the top half of the fifth inning, but UNLV got the runs back in the home half of the seventh when Jones hit a triple to right center to give the Rebels a 6-2 lead.
Junior
Bryan Bonnell (1-0) went six innings in his first start of the season. He allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks to earn the win. Junior
Ben Wright earned his first career save after pitching three scoreless innings.
The two teams continue their four-game set on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. Junior
Kenny Oakley (0-0) is expected to start for the Rebels, while Jake Jenkins (0-1) is probable for the Tigers.

This season at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, fans will enjoy a new and improved concession stand. Smoken Sams catering will be providing entrees that range from barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers to nachos, chicken fingers and fries. A variety of beverages will also be available.
