LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team rebounded from a home loss Friday to take down Loyola Marymount in convincing fashion Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 4-5 overall while the Lions fell to 2-7.

UNLV set the tone early when it took the doubles point to start the day. Santa Shumlina and Paola Artiga got by Anna Romeka and Lisa Piller 7-5 on court two and Anett Ferencz-Bako and Mercedes Lopez Valez nipped Jessica Perez and Ellie Grossman 7-6 at the top of the lineup.

In singles, the hosts won every match on courts 2-6 to cruise to the win. Ferenczi-Bako downed Crespo 7-5, 7-6 at No. 2; Iren Kotseva swept Grossman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3; Artiga rallied past Romeka 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4; Lopez Valez defeated Julia Norlin 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5; and Alexis Garrett got by Lisa Piller 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 on court six.

The Rebels will be back on the courts Saturday with a doubleheader, hosting NAU at 10 a.m. and UC Riverside at 2 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
