Bobbitt Remains Tied For Individual Lead At Collegiate Masters

2015 Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters Results

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV sophomore Redford Bobbitt, who is playing as an individual, shot a second-round 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday and remained tied for the individual lead at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters, which is being played at Southern Highlands Golf Club (par 72, 7,374 yards).

Bobbitt, who is now tied with Alabama's Robby Shelton at 8-under 136, had three birdies and two bogeys during the second round. Shelton was 3-under for the second round. USC's Sean Crocker and Oklahoma State's Wyndham Clark are both tied for third, one shot back at 7-under, while Arizona State's Jon Rahm is fifth at 6-under. Crocker shot 5-under, which tied for the second-lowest score of the day.

The prestigious tournament, which annually features one of the toughest fields in college golf, includes 10 of the top-25 ranked teams in the country and all 15 teams competing are in the nation's top 50. In addition, 19 of the top-50 ranked individuals in the country are competing in the event.

No. 22 Oklahoma State shot the low round of the day at 10-under and now leads the tournament by two shots at 18-under 558. No. 7 Texas, who led after the first day, is in second at 16-under after shooting 4-under during the second round. No. 10 USC is third at 6-under, followed by No. 24 Oklahoma and California, who are both tied for fourth at 5-under.

No. 25 UNLV was 2-over 290 during the second round and is in a tie for ninth place with No. 11 UCLA at 2-over 578.

A total of three other Rebels are in the top 20 as junior AJ McInerney, who is playing as an individual, senior Kurt Kitayama and senior Nicholas Maruri are all tied for 20th at 1-under 143. McInerney fired the low individual score of the second round with a 7-under 65. He had seven birdies with no bogeys on Tuesday.

Other Rebels: senior Carl Jonson and freshman Ben Davis, who is playing as an individual, are both tied for 49th at 3-over, freshman Shintaro Ban, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 54th at 4-over, while freshman John Oda and sophomore Taylor Montgomery are both tied for 63rd at 6-over. Sophomore Chris Tuulik, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 69th at 7-over.

The tournament will conclude on Wednesday with 18 holes starting at 8 a.m. Live scoring of the tournament is available on the internet courtesy of Golfstat through a link at UNLVRebels.com.
