2015 The Goodwin Results
STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV freshman John Oda fired a 6-under-par 64 on Thursday and holds a one-shot lead at The Goodwin, which is being played at Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6,727 yards). Oda recorded six birdies with no bogeys on the day.
There is a six-way tie for second place individually at 5-under, while three others are at 4-under in a tie for eighth. Three of the six who are tied for second are from TCU as the Horned Frogs lead the team standings by eight shots at 16-under.
The No. 24 Rebels are in a tie for third with UC Davis after shooting first-round scores of 6-under 274. UAB is in second place at 8-under, while host No. 7 Stanford rounds out the top five at 4-under. There are a total of 24 schools competing at the event.
Rebel senior Carl Jonson is also in the top 20 after a 2-under 68 on Thursday. He is tied for 19th after five birdies and three bogeys.
Other Rebel scores: senior Kurt Kitayama is tied for 36th at even par, freshman Ben Davis is tied for 66th at 2-over, freshman Shintaro Ban is tied for 92nd at 4-over, while senior Nicholas Maruri, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 115th at 6-over. There are a total of 132 golfers competing.
