LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -- UNLV baseball (12-14, 2-10 Mountain West) dropped its series final 7-3 with San Diego State (22-6, 10-2 MW) on Sunday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels fell behind early as the Aztecs plated a run in each of the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead.
UNLV tied the game by plating two runs in the bottom of the fourth when
Austin Anderson hit a double down the left field line, driving in
A.J. Hernandez from second and
Dylan Ellis from first.
SDSU took a lead it would not relinquish in the sixth by scoring three runs. Ellis wrapped up the Rebels' scoring in the home half of the inning when he hit a two-out home run to left-center field.
Ellis led UNLV from the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Austin Anderson and
Joey Armstrong also finished with multiple hits, as they each went 2-for-4, and Anderson finished with two RBI.
Freshman
Blaze Bohall (3-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits in 7.0 innings of work. He struck out three and walked one before being pulled in the sixth inning. Juniors
Zack Hartman and
Brayden Torres each made relief appearances in the game.
The Rebels return to action on Tuesday as they travel to face Long Beach State. Following its game with the Dirtbags, UNLV will stay on the road for a series against in-state rival Nevada, Reno. The three-game set with the Wolf Pack will start on Thursday and go through Saturday.
