LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)- UNLV baseball (6-6, 0-4 Mountain West) suffered a 5-4 loss to Nevada, Reno (12-1, 4-0 MW) on Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
Dylan Ellis went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored to lead the Rebels offensively.
UNLV grabbed the lead in the second inning when Ellis scored the first run of the game after a pitch hit Nick Rodriguez with the bases loaded. Austin Anderson scored the second run of the inning on a Joey Armstrong hit a sacrifice fly to right field to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead.
UNR tacked on a run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Rebels answered with a two runs in the home half. Erik VanMeetren plated a run on a Morgan Stotts double and Stotts came home on an Ellis double down the left field line, extending UNLV's lead.
The Rebels maintained their advantage until the seventh inning when the Wolf Pack scored four runs, three of which were unearned.
D.J. Myers (2-1, 1.71 ERA) posted his third quality start of the year in a no decision. He went 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts. Ben Wright (0-1, 1.38 ERA) was saddled with the loss after giving up one unearned run on two hits in a third of an inning. Zack Hartman pitched well in relief, striking out three in 2.1 innings of work.
The two teams will continue their three-game set Saturday at 2:05 p.m. PT. Junior Kenny Oakley (0-1, 3.71 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Rebels, while Jason Deitrich (2-0, 1.96 ERA) is probable for the Wolf Pack.

This season at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, fans will enjoy a new and improved concession stand. Smoken Sams catering will be providing entrees that range from barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers to nachos, chicken fingers and fries. A variety of beverages will also be available.
