Rebels And Sun Devils Game Suspended In Third Inning

April 7, 2015

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The game between UNLV baseball (12-18) and No. 5 Arizona State (21-8) has been suspended until Wednesday morning due to inadequate lighting because of a light malfunction at Earl E. Wilson Stadium on Tuesday.

The game is set to resume at 10:00 a.m. PT with the Sun Devils leading the Rebels 5-2. A.J. VanMeetren will be batting with the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the third inning.

The Sun Devils scored the first run of the game in the first inning, but the Rebels answered in the home half of the first when A.J. Hernandez singled to right field to bring home Joey Armstrong.

Arizona State responded by scoring four runs in the top of the second inning. UNLV got a run back in the bottom half after Armstrong hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to bring home A.J. VanMeetren.

After a scoreless top of the third, UNLV loaded the bases with one out before the game was suspended due to darkness.

Hernandez was 2-for-2 with an RBI at the time of the suspended game, while A.J. VanMeetren was 1-for-1 with a run scored.

Admission to Wednesday's continuation is free to the public.
