FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team claimed 25 top-eight finishes, including six victories, at Northern Arizona University's Friday Night Duals to open its 2016 indoor campaign. Newcomer Kaysee Pilgrim notched the Rebels first victory in dramatic fashion by rewriting the program's indoor record book in the high jump with a mark of 5-10.75 (1.80m). Drea Austin produced wins in both the 60m and 200m, while Nikki Regalado (mile), Spencer Moore (mile) and Taylor Pegram (60m hurdles) were also victorious at the Walkup Skydome.

"We are really pleased with how the team performed overall today," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "It is a good start for the season and we now have a good indication of what we need to do to move forward."

Pilgrim transferred to UNLV after she had won three NJCCA titles in the high jump -- two indoor and one outdoor -- at Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz. The junior, who owns a share of the NJCCA's outdoor high jump record (6-1.25/1.86m), surpassed her personal-best indoor distance of 5-10 (1.79m) Friday night.

"Kaysee is a phenomenal student-athlete and we are glad that she is a Rebel! We look forward to seeing what she does this season."

In addition to Pilgrim's personal-best mark, the Rebels saw five others surpass their previous benchmarks. Austin one-upped herself en route to the 60m title with a time of 7.51, while coming .01 shy of tying her best in the 200m with a time of 24.34.

Four others to run personal bests were: Auzsane Crowe-Carter (fourth in the 400m/57.44), Miranda Menzies (5th in the mile/ 5:26.22), Joniece Ervin (second in the 60m hurdles/8.75) and Amari Norris (fourth in the 60m hurdles/8.85).

In front of Ervin and Norris in the 60m hurdles was Pegram with a first-place time of 8.69. Another winner for UNLV was Moore, who topped all in the mile in 2:18.08. Rebecca Hobby also ran well in the mile (third/5:24.52).

In the two throwing events, Vanessa Sierra finished fourth in the shot put (41-10.75/12.77m) and sixth in the weight throw (51-9.00/15.77m). Cortney Miller took second overall in the weight throw (57-7/17.45m), while Stella Clemens was fifth in the shot put (40-11/12.47m).

Clemens also competed in the high jump and was seventh with a distance of 5-1 (1.55m). Madison Johonnot and Stephanie Sawicki were fourth and sixth in the high jump with marks of 5-5 (1.65m) and 5-1 (1.55m), respectively. The latter also was third in the long jump (18-0.50/5.50m), and right behind Ayanna Gales, who was second in the event with a jump of 18-4.50 (5.60m).

Micayla Coquia took sixth in the 60m (7.81) and eighth in the 200m (25.69), while Mandy Chitwood was fifth (57.71) in the 400m.

In the meet's final event, Ervin, Summer Crawley, Sawicki and Clemens partnered to finish fourth in the 4x400m relay in 4:01.70.

The Rebels will return to Flagstaff, Ariz., next week (Jan. 29-30) for another NAU-hosted event, Mountain T's Invitational, at the Walkup Skydome.

NOTES: Pilgrim's record-setting measurement of 5-10.75 (1.80m) surpassed the mark of 5-10 shared by Tianika Sharrieff, Christine Spence and Ashley Henry.
