LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team rounded out its action-packed weekend strong, defeating Southern Utah 7-0 on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 7-0 while the Thunderbirds fell to 0-6.

UNLV blanked Southern Utah in doubles to secure the team point. Carol Zi Yang and Aiwen Zhu downed Veronika Rogova and Laura Martin Lozano 6-1 at the top position. Mercedes Lopez Velez and Anna Bogoslavets beat Teresa De Enrique Schmidt and Evgenia Marushko 6-1 at the second spot and at the third position Iren Kotseva and Paola Artiga took down Megan Bell and Charity Sagiao 6-0.

The hosts also swept in singles, winning all six matches.

Yang took down Rogova 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1; Artiga beat Marushko 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2; Bogoslavets defeated De Enrique Schmidt 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3; Kotseva posted a win against Lozano, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4; Cristina Moroi outlasted Sagiao 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5; and Velez downed Emily Lemmon 6-0, 6-0 on court six.

The Rebels will return to the Fertitta Tennis complex on February 26 and are set to host Cal State Northridge. Conference play will also begin for the Rebels as they are scheduled to play Colorado State on February 28. Doubles play starts at 10 a.m. and admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge.
