Rebels Stand In Fifth After Day One At MW Meet

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) -

UNLV finished Wednesday night in fifth place after three events with 64 points at the 2016 Mountain West Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, held at the Texas A&M Natatorium. The Rebels currently have 64 points to trail overall leader Nevada, Reno (129 points), Boise State in second (91 points), San Diego State in third (86 points), and San Jose State in fourth (72 points).

The night began with the 200 medley relay. The squad of Elena Gavrilova, Lina Rathsack, Jessica Wong, Julia Fehervari posted a runner-up finish in the the second best time in school history at 1:38.36, just 0.73 seconds behind Boise State.

The next event was the one meter diving. UNLV had one post a top-16 finish to score points in the event, as freshmen Alyssa Arnet placed 15th with a score of 240.15.

The final event of the night was the 800 Freestyle Relay. The four-woman team of Michelle Troup, Kyndal Phillips, Wong, and Fehervari recorded a time of 7:18.16 placing them fifth.

The four-day meet continues on Thursday and Friday before concluding on Saturday night.
