LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV softball (8-5) split its doubleheader in the USF Tournament, beating Wisconsin (5-6) in its first game 14-3 in six innings and dropping the second game to the host school USF (5-7) 9-1 in five innings. Jamie DePippo had the hot bat in both games for the Rebels, going a combined 5-6 at the plate with four RBIs, three runs, a double and her first home run of the season.

UNLV turned its game Wisconsin into a route in the sixth inning with eight runs scored. With one out Jadelyn Yadao-Valdez doubled to left field. After Garie Blando was hit by a pitch, DePippo doubled to left center to knock in Blando and Yadao-Valdez. Janine Petmecky then walked and went to second on a single to left field by Alyssa Cordova that loaded the bases. Kwyn Cooper drew a walk to allow DePippo to jog home from third. Myranda Bueno was hit by a pitch to bring home Petmecky, and Francesca Foti hit a double to left center that scored Cooper and Cordova. With two outs a pinch-hitting Kylie Rasmussen singled to right field to knock in Foti and Bueno for the final runs of the inning. UNLV finished the inning with eight runs off five hits, two walks and two hit by pitches.

The Rebels took the lead for good against the Badgers in the top of the first inning. Blando led off the game, was hit by a pitch and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by DePippo. Petmecky then blasted her second home run of the year for the 2-0 lead.

Three more UNLV runs were added in the third inning. With one out DePippo laid down a bunt for a single, and Cordova then singled to the pitcher. Cooper hit her first career home run to stretch UNLV's lead to five.
