March 23, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV standout Aiwen Zhu was named the Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Wednesday.
Zhu, who is a freshman seeing her first action for the Rebels this semester, went a combined 3-1 last week to help her team remain perfect on the season.
The native of China picked up two singles victories, including a win at the No. 1 singles spot against Montana and upsetting a ranked player from Oklahoma. She and partner Carol Yang split a pair of doubles matches vs. the Sooners and Grizzlies.
Zhu, has won 4 consecutive matches to improve to 21-6 in singles and also stands 19-7 in doubles. She also won the league's honor on February 3.
The Rebels (17-0) will next be in action Saturday when they host Hawai'i with doubles starting at 10:00 a.m. Admission at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
