LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team is inching closer to its record holding 16-match win streak set in 1992 after posting a 5-2 victory against No. 61 ranked Old Dominion on Wednesday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 13-0, while the Monarchs fell to 7-5.

In doubles, the hosts won two of three matches to forge a 1-0 lead. Carol Zi Yang and Aiwen Zhu posted a win against Adriana Rajkovic and Natalya Malenko, 6-4, at the top position; and Iren Kotseva and Paola Artiga outlasted Ingrid Vojcinakova and Marijana Novakovic, 7-5, at the bottom of the lineup.

Moving to singles, the hosts won four matches. No. 63 ranked Yang downed Rajkovic 6-4,6-1 at No. 1; Artiga defeated Nataliya Vlasova 6-3, 7-6 at No. 3; Anna Bogoslavets beat Vojcinakova 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4; and Kotseva outlasted Malenko in a tiebreaker 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) on court six.

Next up, UNLV will travel to Idaho to compete in dual-matches. The Rebels will play BYU on Saturday followed by its second conference contest against Boise State on Sunday. Both days will begin with doubles at 10 a.m. PT at the Appleton Tennis Center.
