June 9, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Details have been announced for UNLV Football's trip to face Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich., on Saturday, September 17.
The Rebels and Chippewas will kick off at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT and the game will appear live on ESPN3.
UNLV leads the all-time series with CMU 3-1 and the most recent meeting between the two teams was in 2013 in Las Vegas. The Rebels trailed 21-0 in that game but rattled off 31 unanswered points to win the game 31-21. In overcoming the 21 point deficit, UNLV tied an all-time record for biggest comeback., with a 1976 rally against Nebraska-Omaha.
The Chippewas and Rebels have met once in Mount Pleasant, Mich. In 1994 CMU upended UNLV 35-23 in the second game of the season. The Rebels would avenge the loss later that same year when the two teams met in the Las Vegas Bowl. UNLV captured its second bowl victory in school history with a 52-24 win over the Chippewas.
The only other meeting between the two schools came in 1993, when UNLV won 33-20.
Thursday's news means that seven of the Rebels' 12 games this fall now have television assignments. Previously announced, two Rebel games were selected by CBS Sports Network, two more by ESPN Networks and one by the Pac-12 Network. Those are in addition to the ESPN2 telecast of UNLV at Boise State on Friday, November 18. Additional broadcasts by ROOT SPORTS, the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders and Oceanic Time Warner Cable will be announced in the coming weeks.
