EUGENE, Ore. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV track & field alumna Lekeisha Lawson advanced to Sunday's 100m semifinals at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials after her performance in the first round of the event Saturday. Lawson finished fourth overall in the third heat with a time of 11.24, and earned one of six non-automatic qualifying spots. Overall, 21 participants will compete in three semifinal heats in hopes of moving on to the final round later in the day at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Lawson, who ran at UNLV from 2006-09, also qualified for the 200m, which will be contested July 8-9.

Rising senior Kaysee Pilgrim will also compete Sunday in the final of the high jump after a ninth-place showing in Friday's qualifying round. Pilgrim was one of nine individuals to successfully clear a height of 6-0.65 (1.84m) while two others advanced with marks of 5-10.5 (1.79m).

Amanda Bingson, a three-time Mountain West champion in the hammer throw, is looking to make her second straight Olympic team. The Silverado High School graduate represented the U.S. at the 2012 London Olympics after a second-place finish at the Trials and will throw Wednesday (1:00 pm). In 2013, in Des Moines, Iowa, she won the first of two national titles behind successive throws, including one of 248-5 (74.92m), which not only reset the Drake Stadium record, but also placed her name atop the American record book -- the mark was surpassed earlier this year by Gwen Berry (250-4/76.31m) in May. In 2014, she successfully defended her title in Sacramento, Calif., with another measurement that rewrote a stadium mark. Last year, she placed third at the U.S. Championships and later represented the Red, White & Blue in Beijing at the 15th IAAF World Championships. She heads to Oregon seeded fourth behind a qualifying measurement of 237-4 (72.35m).
