LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - One of the nation’s top individual tournaments will turn 15 this year as players from many of the elite college programs in the United States, including host UNLV, will gather in Las Vegas this weekend for the annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.

Individual competitors will be supplied by teams that include all of the top five and seven of the top 25 from the season’s initial ITA rankings: No. 1 Florida, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Pepperdine, No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 10 Duke and No. 25 UCLA. Host UNLV will provide eight singles players, including 48th-ranked Carol Yang, and four doubles teams in the draws.

Action begins with doubles each day at 10 a.m. PST on Friday and Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free of charge. The event features two flights each of both singles and doubles along with consolation rounds.

Last year’s event saw sixth-ranked Hayley Carter of North Carolina win the singles crown over No. 42 Giulana Olmos of USC, while Carter and teammate Whitney Kay, ranked second nationally, downed No. 4 Olmos and Gabby Smith, to earn the doubles title.
