LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team (8-8, 1-2 MW) will head back out on the road and play at Utah State (7-7, 1-2 MW) on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 4 p.m. MT / 3 p.m. PT at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum (10,270) in Logan, Utah.
The Runnin' Rebels are looking for their second Mountain West win of the year. After beating Wyoming at home on Dec. 31, 81-75, UNLV lost at home to Boise State on Wednesday, 77-59.
UNLV, which is 1-2 in true road games this year, is led in scoring by sophomore guard Jalen Poyser (13.8 ppg), senior forward Tyrell Green (13.1 ppg), senior forward Christian Jones (10.0 ppg), junior guard Jovan Mooring (9.3 ppg) and sophomore guard Kris Clyburn (9.2 ppg). Clyburn (6.6 rpg), Jones (6.5 rpg) and Green (6.2 rpg) are the team's leading rebounders, while Poyser (3.3 apg) and Mooring (3.3 apg) lead in assists. Junior forward Dwayne Morgan was leading the team in rebounding (7.3 rpg), but has missed the last seven games because of injury.
Utah State is coming off a home win over New Mexico (79-75) on Wednesday, which snapped a three-game losing streak. The Aggies are 5-3 at home this year. Senior wing Jalen Moore (17.7 ppg), freshman guard Koby McEwen (14.1 ppg) and senior guard Shane Rector (11.2 ppg) are the team's leading scorers. Moore (4.9 rpg), McEwen (4.9 rpg) and sophomore wing Alexis Dargenton (4.9 rpg) lead in rebounding, while McEwen (3.0 apg) and Rector (3.0 apg) are the team's assist leaders.
