Amilon Named MW Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior Jakob Amilon was named Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Playing at the No. 1 positions in the lineup, Amilon went a combined 5-0 in singles and doubles over the weekend while helping the Rebels to a 4-0 mark in dual matches with victories over New Mexico State, Weber State, Youngstown State and UC Riverside.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden knocked off Chris Goncalves of New Mexico State at the top of the lineup, 6-3, 6-4, to give his team a 4-0 win. Amilon also helped UNLV take the doubles point in all four matches, winning at the top position with partner Evaldo Neto.

Amilon and the rest of the UNLV men's tennis team will travel to California to take on No. 20 Stanford on Friday starting with doubles at 1 p.m. The Rebels will conclude their road trip with a visit to Santa Clara on Sunday starting with doubles play at 11 a.m.
