March 1, 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships Qualfiers | USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program's Destiny Smith-Barnett has qualified for the 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships that will take place in College Station, Texas on March 10-11. Smith-Barnett is one of 16 collegiate competitors that will venture to the Lone Star State to run in the 60m.
The junior from Oakland, California, notched her program- and personal-best time of 7.20 at last week's Mountain West Indoor Championships.
"We are excited about Destiny having the opportunity to compete at the indoor championships," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "After sitting out the 2016 indoor season with a back injury, she has worked her way to being one of the best sprinters in the country, with guidance from assistant coach Larry Wade. We are looking forward to seeing her make a name for herself on the national scene and represent the Rebels."
Additionally, the Scarlet & Gray moved up to fifth in the USTFCCCA's regional rankings following its second-place showing at the MW Indoors.
