LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program's Destiny Smith-Barnett is one of 16 student-athletes that will compete in the preliminary rounds (second heat) of the 60m at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday evening in Texas A&M's Gilliam Indoor Stadium. The preliminary heats will take place at 6:00 pm CT (4:00 pm PT) while the event final is scheduled for Saturday at 4:20 pm CT (2:20 pm PT).
Smith-Barnett is seeded seventh out of 16 in a field that is comprised of multiple entrants from three schools -- LSU (5), Oregon (3) and Kentucky (2). Alabama, Purdue, San Diego State, Texas and USC will each have one representative in the prelims.
The junior from Oakland, California, qualified for the 60m with a program- and personal-best time of 7.20 in the prelims of the event at the Mountain West Indoor Championships last month.
