STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 15 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 3-under-par 277 on Saturday and finished in third place at The Goodwin, which was played at Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6,727 yards).
The Rebels finished with a 54-hole total of 10-over 850. No. 1 Stanford led wire to wire for the team title at 3-under 837. The Cardinal shot a final-round 7-under. No. 1 USC finished second at 6-over, while No. 5 Oregon was fourth and Washington rounded out the top five. There were 24 team competing. Individually, BYU's Rhett Rasmussen held on to the lead to earn medalist honors by a shot at 4-under 206 after a final-round even-par 70. UNLV sophomore Harry Hall matched the best finish of his career with a tie for second at 3-under 207 after a final-round 1-under. Stanford's Franklin Huang also tied for second.
It marked Hall's fifth top-10 finish of the season (in 10 events).
UNLV junior John Oda also finished in the top five at 1-under 209. He tied for fifth after a final-round 4-under 66.
Other Rebels: freshman Justin Kim tied for 25th at 6-over after a final-round even par, junior Shintaro Ban tied for 46th at 10-over after a final-round 2-over and senior Taylor Montgomery tied for 63rd at 13-over after a final-round 2-over. There were a total of 126 golfers competing.
UNLV's next action will be April 15-16, at The Boilermaker in West Lafayette, Ind.
