COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team completed a road weekend sweep with its fifth consecutive victory on Sunday, 4-0 over Air Force at the Cadet Gymnasium Outdoor Tennis Courts at the Academy.
The Rebels improved to 16-7 overall and 4-2 in Mountain West play while the Falcons fell to 7-14 and 0-4 in the conference.
"It was good to close out the road trip with a win against a much improved Air Force team," said head coach Owen Hambrook. "It is always an honor and a privilege to compete against them."
UNLV forged a key 1-0 lead by taking two out of three doubles matches. Jakob Amilon and Evaldo Neto downed Max Olson and Tadhg Collins 6-1 at the top position while Adam Gage-Brown and Ruben Alberts beat Isaac Perez and Luke Sanderson 6-3 on court two to clinch it.
Moving to singles play, UNLV quickly won three matches to secure the win. Amilon defeated Olson 7-5, 6-0, at the top of the lineup; Alexandr Cozbinov beat Perez 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2; and Alberts finished off Mack Galvin 7-6 (3), 6-2 on court four.
The Rebels will close the regular season with two road matches, beginning with San Diego on Friday, followed by s conference finale at San Diego State on Saturday.
