Rebels To Close Out Home Schedule

April 5, 2017

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team will close out its home regular season campaign with two matches beginning with intrastate rival Nevada, Reno on Friday at 3 p.m. PT in a meeting that will be played indoors at LIFETIME Green Valley because of high winds. The Rebels will then take on Fresno State on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT. All matches will begin with doubles play and admission is free of charge.

The match against the Wolf Pack is part of the Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold. The Governor's Series is an all-encompassing athletic and academic head-to-head competition between the Silver State's institutions. To date, Nevada, Reno maintains a three-point lead, 12 to 9, in the 2016-17 standings. The Scarlet & Gray has won the Governor's Series each year of its existence.

The Rebels are currently 12-7 after splitting a doubleheader where they fell to conference opponent Utah State 4-3 and blanked Southern Utah 7-0 last week.

UNLV's last time facing Fresno State was in last year's Mountain West conference tournament semifinals, where the fourth-seeded UNLV men's tennis team beat eighth-seeded Fresno State 4-3 to advance to the championship game against Boise State, where they beat the Broncos to capture the program's second Mountain West Conference tournament championship.
