June 12, 2017

EUGENE, Oregon (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program had two individual student-athletes as well as its 4x100m relay team recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association after their performances at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

With a third-place finish in the high jump, Kaysee Pilgrim was tabbed a First Team All-American. Pilgrim is the first Rebel to claim first-team status since Amanda Bingson did so in 2012 after she took third in the hammer throw.

Destiny Smith-Barnett was tabbed an Second Team All-American with her 15th-place showing in the 100m. Additionally, Smith-Barnett alongside teammates Drea Austin, Kaysha Love and Taylor Pegram formed the Scarlet & Gray's 4x100m relay that garnered Second-Team All-American status behind its 15th-place finish.

Moreover, Smith-Barnett became the first Rebel since Amanda Bingson in 2012 to collect indoor and outdoor All-American status during the same year. The former was named a Second Team All-American after a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, while the latter was a First Team All-American in the hammer throw at both the indoor and outdoor meets.
