LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV saw its run end when the Rebels' top doubles team fell in the semifinals Sunday but numerous host players were still able to record victories in the Added Matches Draw to close the 16th annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Aiwen Zhu and En-Pei Huang fell 6-2 to top-seeded and seventh-ranked Ena Shibahara and Jada Hart of UCLA, who then went on to win the main draw crown with a 6-4 victory over the third-seeded duo from Oklahoma State.

Shibahara, ranked 16th individually, then won the singles title, 6-2, 7-6, over her teammate Hart, ranked 119th, 6-2, 7-6.

Winning added matches for the Rebels were Mercedes Lopez, 6-1, 6-1, over Anna Harmon of North Carolina; Samantha Li, 6-2, 7-5, over Elizabeth Yao of Stanford; Anna Bogoslavetts, 7-5, 6-3, over Dani Wagland of Texas; and Jovana Kenic, 6-0, 6-0, over Paulette Wolak of Stanford.

In extra doubles action, Juliet Zhang and Izumi Asano downed a Stanford duo, 6-1, while Lopez and Kenic also defeated opponents from the Cardinal, 6-2.

Next up, UNLV will open its dual-match season Friday by hosting New Mexico State at 10 a.m. Admission to the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
