Biography
UNLV: The eighth Rebel to earn All-MW in singles four times heads into her final season looking to become the first UNLV player to do it five times thanks to a Super Senior Season granted in 2022 ... The former Conference Freshman of the Year was also previously one half of one of the nation's top doubles teams, she and former UNLV teammate En-Pei Huang earned the program's highest doubles ranking since 2007 when they moved to No. 13 on Feb. 5, 2020.
2021: Earned her fourth straight all-league nod in singles after going 9-5 at the No. 1 spot in dual matches ... Named the MW Player of the Week on April 7, which marked her fourth career honor ... Playing at the top of the lineup, she teamed with Huang for a pair of doubles wins and in singles, earned a come-from-behind victory against Boise State's Loana Baptista, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-8), and swept Utah State's Carolina Millan, 6-1, 7-6 the following day ... She and her partner once again led the All-Mountain West doubles list as Asano and Huang teamed up for a 14-2 overall record, including 8-1 in MW action ... Ranked as high as No. 13 in the nation during the season, they would go on to set the school record for single-season win percentage at .875 ... Earned Academic All-MW and ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
2020: Along with partner Huang, entered the spring ranked No. 28 in the nation after a big fall season that saw them bring UNLV its first ITA regional doubles championship ... The pair rose to as high as No. 13 in the nation before finishing ranked 20th overall ... The duo, which was unranked in the preseason, posted a perfect week at the Mountain Regional held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in fall 2019 ... Went 6-0 at the event, knocking off the No. 2 seed from AFA and No. 6 seed from Utah before winning the final, 7-5, 6-4, over NAU's Adrianna Sosnowska and Mimi Bland ... The UNLV women had won five ITA regional singles titles but never a doubles crown before their run ... The win earned Huang and Asano a trip to the main draw of the elite Oracle ITA National Fall Championships staged at the Newport Beach Tennis Club in November ... Lost the first round to Oklahoma State's Lisa Rioux and Aymi Miyamoto, 6-2, 6-3, and then dropped a heartbreaker in the consolation round, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) to Auburn's Taylor Russo and Selin Ovunc ... Asano earned her third straight all-league nod in singles after going 8-6 overall, including 4-3 at the No. 1 spot in dual matches ... She was named the MW Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in spring 2020 (Feb. 12 & 19) ... Earned the ITA Scholar-Athlete and the designation of the 2020 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete ... Asano and her doubles partner En-Pei Huang, led the 2020 All-Mountain West Doubles Team after posting a 15-3 overall record, including a perfect 6-0 in dual matches.
2019: Named All-Mountain West Conference in singles for the second straight season as a sophomore ... Named the MW Player of the Week on Feb. 6 ... Finished third on the team in wins with a 22-9 singles record ... Went 7-3 at No. 2 position and 6-2 at No. 3 ... Downed Paiton Wagner in straight sets to help UNLV defeat Oregon in the consolation round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend event ... Earned her first career Mountain West Player of the Week on Feb. 6 after winning both of her singles matches at Texas A&M and then vs. Lamar in a neutral-site match ... Finished 4-1 in MW play as a sophomore ... Reached the Round of 16 in singles at the 2018 ITA Mountain Regional ... Named Academic All-MW and an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
2018: Named All-Mountain West Conference in singles as well as becoming the sixth Rebel to earn the league's Freshman of the Year Award (Co-) ... Ranked third on the team with a 23-9 singles mark ... Went 11-5 at No. 2 spot, 0-1 at No. 3 and 2-0 at No. 4 ... Finished 17-14 in doubles play, including 9-7 at No. 3 spot in the lineup playing primarily with partner Juliet Zhang.
