@UNLVTrackCC | UW Invitational: Live Results

SEATTLE (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program's Stella Clemens finished sixth overall (3,585 points) in the pentathlon Friday on the first day of the UW Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor. Kylee Vandenberg and Jaela Williams also represented the Scarlet & Gray and took 16th (3,289) and 23rd (3,116), respectively.

Clemens' best showing came in the shot put, which she won with a throw of 40-11 (12.47m). She finished between 11th and 14th in the four other events (60m hurdles, 800m, high jump and long jump). Moreover, she posted a career-best time of 9.17 in the 60m hurdles.

Vandenberg topped out at eighth in the shot put (35-0.5/10.68m) and was 12th in the 800m (2:29.99).

Williams, who was competing in her first pentathlon, opened the five-disciplined event with a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.80). She also cracked the top 10 in the long jump, with a measurement of 16-10 (5.13m).

QUOTABLE: "It was a decent first pentathlon for the Rebels," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "We have some things to work on in the next month before the Mountain West Championships, but we competed well today. It was a good start for Stella and it was similar to how she opened her indoor season last year at Nebraska. Kylee just needed to shake off the cobwebs, and it was Jaela's first go at this multi event."

REBEL NOTES:
-Clemens' time of 9.17 in the 60m hurdles was 0.05 seconds faster than her previous best of 9.22 registered last February at Nebraska's Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.
-Friday's pentathlon was the first for Vandenberg who had missed the last two years due to injury.
-Friday's pentathlon was Williams' first after previously only competing in the indoor 60m, 60m hurdles and long jump.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will have four runners take to the Dempsey Indoor track Saturday. Yamilet Biggers will run in the 400m at 1:00 pm, while Elisa Rovere and Avi'Tal Perteete will follow in the 800m 40 minutes later. Spencer Moore will close out UNLV's participation at the meet in the mile at 3:15 pm.
