BERKELEY, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - Just a day after nearly knocking off the host Cal Bears, the UNLV women's tennis team this time finished the job Saturday with a thrilling 4-3 upset victory over Mississippi State in the consolation round of ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

Playing at the Hellman Tennis Center, UNLV improved to 3-1 while the SEC's Bulldogs, who finished last season ranked 20th in the nation, fell to 2-2 overall.

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Sophomore En-Pei Huang first teamed up with Aiwen Zhu for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and then, playing at the third spot in singles, gutted out a second-set tiebreaker to clinch it for the Rebels when the team match was tied at 3.

STAT OF THE MATCH: UNLV won the doubles point for the second consecutive day vs. a Power 5 opponent. The Rebels only won doubles against a Power 5 a total of two times last season.

QUOTABLE: "Today was a great college tennis match. Our team really came ready to play against a very good MSU team from the SEC. We felt we let a great opportunity get away yesterday (vs. Cal) so I was happy to see them bounce back and compete so well today."

NET NOTES: Zhu, the reigning Mountain West Player of the Week, improved to 4-0 this season and 14-1 in her career while playing at the No. 1 position in dual matches.
