LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Host UNLV turned in another outstanding effort Thursday at the 2018 ITA Mountain Region Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
 
Members from 22 western teams are facing off as individuals this week on 12 courts each day in both singles and doubles.
 
Three Rebel singles players won both of their matches on Day 2: Aiwen Zhu, seeded second and ranked 49^th in the nation; 16th-seeded Anna Bogoslavets; and Izumi Asano. All advanced to Friday's Round of 16.
 
In doubles, the event's top-seeded team of Zhu and En-Pei Huang, ranked 37^th nationally, won its match 8-2 while Asano and Samantha Li also advanced with an 8-6 victory to move into the Round of 16.
 
The ITA Regional Championships feature more than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Arizona.
 
Friday's action gets under way with doubles at 9:00 a.m. PT. The finals are set for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
