SATURDAY'S PREVIEW...
Opening a run of five consecutive games vs. MW West Division opponents, UNLV (2-5/0-3) travels to San José State (0-7/0-3) Saturday afternoon ... The Rebels are coming off a 41-35 home loss to Air Force while the Spartans fell 16-13 at San Diego State ... With starter Armani Rogers out indefinitely because of a foot injury, it has now been 22 years since the same quarterback started every game of a season for the Rebels (Jon Denton 1996) ... Rogers was ranked in the top 10 in the nation with 122.0 rushing yards per game when he was knocked out of action ... Rogers' replacement behind center, sophomore Max Gilliam, has thrown for eight touchdowns in three games -- tying two others (Caleb Herring in 2013 & Omar Clayton in 2008) for the most over a three-game span by a Rebel since Jon Denton tossed 11 during the final three games of 1996 (3 at TCU, 4 vs. SDSU, 4 at SJSU) ... Gilliam also became the first UNLV QB to throw at least three TDs in consecutive games since Clayton tossed three vs. UNR and at CSU in 2008 ... QB RB Lexington Thomas sits second in the MW and 30th in the country with 94.3 YPG ... Thomas (660 yards in 2018) is the second player in school history to run for at least 500 yards in four different seasons, joining all-time leading rusher Tim Cornett (2011-14) ... Lex needs just two yards to move past two-time All-American Mike Thomas into second place on UNLV's career rushing list and is one 100-yard rushing game short of tying Thomas' 44-year-old school record of 17 set in 1973-74 ... UNLV goes into Saturday tied for second in the nation with 10 fumbles recovered, just one behind leader Florida.

REBELS vs. SPARTANS NOTES...
San José State leads the all-time series 15-6-1 after UNLV last time out snapped the Spartans' seven-game win streak vs. the Rebels ... UNLV's 41-13 victory in Las Vegas in 2017 was its largest win in series history (28 points) ... The Rebels are looking for their first win in San Jose since 1993 when they won 28-14... UNLV is looking to win back-to-back meetings for the first time since taking three straight from 1992-94 ... This is the third different league in which the Rebels and Spartans have met as rivals as they were also both in the Big West and WAC and then San José State joined the Mountain West in 2013 ... SJSU DL coach Joe Seumalo was a member of Tony Sanchez's first Rebel staff in 2015 ...  Dan Godfrey, the father of UNLV's starting FB, Daniel Godfrey Jr., was a two-time All-Big West LB for the Spartans in 1993 and '94 ... UNLV safeties coach Al Simmons was on the 2005 SJSU staff.
