Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rebels Fall To Top-25 Seattle On The Road

UNLV faces San Jose State Sunday.

UNLV kept the game scoreless through the first five minutes of the second half, until 25th-ranked Seattle exploded for three goals over a four-minute span on the way to a 4-0 victory over the Rebels in WAC men's soccer action from University Field Friday night. The loss dropped UNLV's record to 6-6-1 overall, 1-2-1 in league play, while Seattle moved to 9-3 on the year, 3-1 in the WAC.

Seattle held a commanding lead on shots in the first half but the Rebels stayed with the host team, keeping possession of the ball and making several scoring runs into the Seattle box. After the first half ended in a scoreless tie, the Redhawks got on the scoreboard in the 51st minute.

THE TURNING POINT: After claiming the first score of the game on a header off a corner kick, the Redhawks quickly added to their lead just 92 seconds later on a shot from inside the box. Under three minutes later Seattle got behind the defense and beat Rebel goalkeeper Enrique Adame for a score, the Redhawks' third in a 4:35 span.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV was outshot by a 24-4 margin, including 11-1 on shots on goal. "

"I take my hat off to Seattle, they deserve their top 25 ranking from what we saw tonight. I was happy we were level in the first half, it just got away from us in the four-minute span in the second half . We have to learn from that and how to play with more resiliency."
- Head Coach Rich Ryerson

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will travel to California for a Sunday, 1 pm contest at the San Jose State Spartans. Sunday's game will be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network, available on UNLVRebels.com as well as through the Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android streaming devices.
