Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rebels End Weekend With Loss To San Jose State

Spartans score in the 62nd minute to beat UNLV 1-0 Sunday at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's soccer couldn't find any magic on the offensive side of the ball in a 1-0 loss to San Jose State Sunday at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Spartans were the aggressors early, out-shooting the Rebels 5-0 in the first half and 15-5 for the game, with their pressure paying off in the 62nd minute with the game winner.

UNLV fell to 8-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Mountain West, while San Jose State improved to 6-5-2 and 5-1-0.

THE TURNING POINT: SJSU picked up its pressure in the second half and drew a corner in the 62nd minute. It looked like the Rebels had a chance to clear it easily, but a deflection went to the foot of San Jose State's Haleigh Wynn and Wynn was able to take one touch and blast it past UNLV keeper Emberly Sevilla.

STAT OF THE GAME: The 15-5 shot margin was the largest deficit for UNLV all season, while the five total shots were a season-low.

QUOTABLE: "I'm disappointed with our performance today. We started flat and just never recovered."
- Head coach Chris Shaw

UP NEXT: The Rebels have just two home games remaining next weekend - Friday night against New Mexico at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon against San Diego State at 1 p.m.. Sunday's contest will serve as senior day for UNLV, who will play its last three games on the road.

REBEL NOTES:
* Emberly Sevilla had a career-high 10 saves in the loss
* UNLV was shut out for just the fifth time this season, while it was just the second time being held to under 10 shots

* UNLV is celebrating its 20th season in program history
