Box Score

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 24 UNLV baseball team (21-6, 6-4 MW) suffered a 5-4 loss in game one of its Mountain West series against the UNR Wolf Pack (14-8, 8-2 MW) at Peccole Park Thursday night. The host Wolf Pack held a four-run lead through four innings of play, but watched as the Rebels scored twice in the fifth and seventh to knot the affair at 4-all. Unfortunately, UNR capitalized on an error in the bottom of the ninth en route to a walk-off win.

Moments after UNLV was retired in order, UNR was able to get its lead-off batter on base -- hit by pitch -- in its half of the ninth inning. Conner Woods (1-1) was able to get the next batter he faced to strike out; however, he uncorked an errant pickoff throw towards first base during the next at-bat which allowed the base runner to advance to third base. Woods then walked the batter to set up a double-play opportunity. The Rebels went to the bullpen and brought in Donavon McCrystal, who allowed the game-winning hit -- an RBI single to right field.

The Wolf Pack scored once in both the second and third and twice more in the fourth to stake itself to a four-run advantage; however, Bryson Stott cut the deficit in half with a two-run single in the fifth. Two innings later, Stott got a two-out rally going with a single before scoring off Dillon Johnson's RBI double. Nick Rodriguez evened the affair at 4-all two batters later with an RBI single.

REBEL OF THE GAME: Stott went 3-for-5 with three singles, and factored in three of UNLV's four runs with two RBI and one run scored. He had a two-run single in the fifth and scored a run in the seventh.

QUOTABLE: "This was a good, hard-fought game by both teams," said head coach Stan Stolte. I'm proud that we came back from a 4-0 deficit against one of the best pitchers in our conference. We just made a couple late mistakes that you can't get away with in a tight game."

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV hit into a season-high four double plays -- three of which were inning-ending (third, fourth and fifth).
