April 11, 2018 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV quarterback Kurt Palandech and center J'Ondray Sanders were both announced as members of the 2018 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society Wednesday.
The group is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who maintained at least a cumulative 3.2 grade point average throughout their college career. Players from 303 schools qualified for membership as the society celebrated its 12th year.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include being a starter or significant contributor in the last year of eligibility at an NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university, and meeting all mandated progress towards degree requirements.
Palandech (Plainfield, IL), who is playing this spring with the UNLV baseball team, closed his Rebel career by appearing in all 12 games, seeing time at quarterback and holder on kicks. He finished fourth in school history in rushing yards by a quarterback with 728, running for nine total touchdowns while passing for 14 during his time in the Scarlet & Gray. The three-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree earned his bachelor's degree in business last spring with a 3.76 GPA and is currently pursuing his MBA at the school.
Sanders (Henderson, NV) took over as the team's starting center during his senior season as the Basic High School product lettered three times as a Rebel. The finance major holds a 3.44 career GPA and is a two-time Academic All-MW honoree.
UNLV Football's annual Spring Showcase is Saturday starting at noon at the soccer stadium on campus. Admission is free of charge.
