April 19, 2018 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV track & field's Stella Clemens finished 10th overall amongst collegiate competitors in group three and 22nd out of 53 that completed the two-day heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational Multi. Clemens scored 5,206 points in the seven-discipline event contested at Cougar Athletic Stadium.
Clemens' best showings came in the javelin and shot put where she finished second and third, respectively. Her top javelin throw measured 125-0 (38.11m), while her shot put traveled 40-8.75 (12.41m). She was sixth in the long jump with a distance of 18-5 (5.61m). She also posted times of 14.63 in the 100m hurdles, 25.88 in the 200m and 2:27.85 in the 800m as well as a mark of 5-3 (1.60m) in the high jump.
The Rebels will return to the stadium for day three of the meet with entrants competing as early as 8:00 am in the long jump, while the first track event will be the 4x100m relay, which it and its members will travel to participate at Long Beach State's Beach Invitational Saturday.
Entering the week, UNLV has 11 student-athletes as well as its 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay ranked in the top five of 10 events amongst Mountain West competition. The 4x100m relay team is first overall, while the 4x100m relay, Najia Hudspeth (200m) and Avi'Tal Perteete (400m) are second. Destiny Smith-Barnett (100m), Nylia Hudspeth (400m), Elisa Rovere (800m), Jasmyne Graham (100m hurdles) and MacKenna Howard (shot put) are third.
